A 10 DAY ADVANCED YOGA TEACHER TRAINING (500 HR LEVEL)

Yoga And Ayurveda: Living in tune with nature, is an elective part of Yandara’s Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program. You are also welcome to attend just this module as a retreat or continuing education course. During these 10 days we will explore Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, and the deeper practices of Yoga, including Bhakti Yoga. The teachers of this module are Sumitra Peterson (Ayurveda), Mercy Ananda (Bhakti), Christopher Perkins (Yoga Philosophy/Techniques), Nicolina Sandstedt (Yoga Techniques).

Ayurveda

You will learn the fundamentals of Ayurveda. The Sanskrit word Veda means knowledge and Ayur means daily living. Ayurveda is the knowledge of daily living, of how to keep ourselves healthy on a day-to-day basis. You will learn how to integrate Ayurvedic wisdom into your daily life, and create balance by cultivating harmony between the inner and outer environments.  

Ayurveda curriculum:

  • Vedic & Samkhya Philosophy (Physiology of Creation)
  • Discover you Dosha/Constitution & Imbalances
  • Constitutional diets
  • Five Great Elements, Three Doshas, The Six Tastes
  • Digestive Health (Agni/Ama)
  • Cleanses & Balancing
  • Daily & Seasonal Routine for Healthy Living
  • Preparation of traditional Indian Chai Tea, Kitcheree, Ghee and fermented whole grain flat breads

Yoga curriculum:

  • Sequencing for the different Doshas/Constitutions
  • Sequencing for the different Seasons
  • Study of Yogic Philosophy 
  • What is Bhakti Yoga?
  • Learn to guide students in mantra practice 
  • Learn to accompany simple mantras with traditional yogic instruments

Sumitra Perterson Yandara Ayurveda and Yoga Retreat

Sumitra Peterson (Ayurveda): Sumitra’s love of and background in dance & movement lead her to study yoga at Mount Madonna Center in Santa Cruz, California. Her teacher, Baba Hari Das initiated her into the classical teachings of Ashtanga/Raja Yoga. For more than 10 years, Sumitra was a teacher, workshop leader, and choreographer at Mount Madonna. While at the center, she studied Ayurveda extensively with Dr. Vasant Lad, and for 8 years she was the Ayurveda Teacher for Avalon Yoga ‘s teacher training in Palo Alto, CA. Sumitra is wholeheartedly dedicated to the continuing study, practice and teaching of Yoga and Ayurveda. The methods of these ancient sciences are integrated into her life and continues to inspire her daily. “It is a great blessing to have the knowledge of Ayurveda. Program Details:

Program Dates: 2017 dates coming soon

Prerequisite: 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training Certificate from Yandara Yoga Institute, or other Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour Yoga Teacher training.

Preparatory Study: “Ayurveda: The Science of Self-healing: A Practical Guide” by Vasant Lad.  You will not be expected to know everything by heart but since it is an intensive training it is helpful to have a general overview of the subjects. Keep a ‘food eaten’-journal for two weeks prior to the training, record what you have consumed and what time of the day you consumed it. Contact Hours: 90 hours

Non-Contact Hours: 10 hours (to be fulfilled by pre-training home study of the required texts)

Program Early Bird Cost: $1,550 USD, less that 60 days before the start of the course the regular price of $1,650 takes effect. Canadian residence may be eligible for a “exchange rate” scholarship. Contact us for details.
