The Art of Intelligent Sequencing, a 50-Hour Advanced Yoga Immersion

A 5-day immersive exploration of advanced yoga sequencing as a living, intelligent system — where breath, structure, and perspective transform the way we practice and teach yoga. If you are working towards your 500RYT, this 50hr module can be used towards Yandara’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Immerse yourself in the yoga lifestyle at Shambala Gatherings, Yandara’s tranquil summer home in the Swedish forest.

When Practice Becomes Familiar

Have you ever noticed how easily practice can become predictable?

The same sequences.
The same transitions.
The same feeling of moving through something that once felt inspiring.

What if practice could be guided less by habit — and more by intelligence, breath, and perspective?
In early August, we gather in the forests of Sweden to explore that question together.

About the Yoga Sequencing Immersion

Over four immersive days, we explore how practice can become more intelligent, supportive, and alive.

Rather than repeating familiar templates, we approach sequencing as a living system shaped by preparation, breath, and spatial awareness.

Inspired in part by the geometric clarity and imaginative approach found in Katonah-style yoga, this immersion introduces new ways of seeing and designing practice.

Participants learn how structure can create freedom — allowing practice to become both precise and creatively responsive.

Curriculum

Throughout the immersion we will explore:

  • Intelligent preparation and spatial awareness
  • The role of props in creating accessibility and precision
  • Sequencing through polarity and structural balance
  • Breath as a guide for rhythm and movement
  • Hands-on assisting to support student experience
  • Creative sequencing methods for dynamic classes
  • Refining your personal teaching voice

These principles gradually unfold into practical tools you can bring directly into your personal practice and teaching.

What You’ll Leave With

By the end of the immersion you will leave with:

  • Renewed inspiration in your personal practice
  • Greater clarity and confidence in sequencing
  • Practical tools for designing intelligent classes
  • A deeper understanding of how structure supports creativity

Most of all, you will leave remembering that practice can feel intelligent, creative, and deeply alive.

Beyond the Mat

This immersion is intentionally small and intimate, allowing space for thoughtful exploration, personal feedback, and meaningful connection within the group.

Alongside the training sessions we weave in experiential practices such as:

  • Qigong
  • Breathwave journeys
  • Ecstatic movement
  • Voice resonance practices
  • Evening Kirtan gatherings

These shared experiences expand the training beyond technique into embodiment, creativity, and community.

The Setting

The immersion takes place at Shambala Gatherings, a retreat center nestled in the forests of Sweden.

Between sessions you can:

  • Wander through quiet Nordic forests filled with mushrooms and blueberries
  • Breathe the cool northern air
  • Restore yourself in the warmth of the sauna

Here, the land itself becomes part of the training experience.

Your Teachers

The trainers for this course are Christopher Perkins and Kari Schein. Read more about the teachers on our Teacher Faculty page. Occasionally the teachers change for a specific course, please contact us if you have any questions about the teachers.

Kari Schein is a Katonah Yoga® teacher, sound artist, and longtime educator. She discovered yoga over thirty years ago as an athlete seeking relief from physical strain and the demands of work and family life. What began as support for the body became a lifelong path of study, exploring breath, structure, and sound as gateways to resilience and clarity. After more than three decades in Montessori education—mentoring and training teachers—Kari brings depth and warmth to her teaching. With over 500 hours of training in Katonah Yoga®, nidra, breathwork, and sound medicine, she offers geometry-based, longevity-focused classes that integrate seasonal awareness and nervous-system regulation, supporting meaningful transformation within a heart-centered community.

Christopher is the co-founder of Yandara Yoga Institute and has been practicing meditation and yoga since childhood. His dynamic, intuitive teaching style blends creative movement with a strong asana practice, encouraging students to connect to their hearts and fullest potential. Deeply inspired by yoga philosophy and psychology, Christopher weaves these teachings naturally into his classes. Raised in a meditation community in Virginia, he began his spiritual journey at an early age and later trained in Sacred Passage wilderness meditation, Vipassana, and Tibetan Buddhist practices. Since founding Yandara in 2003, he has guided thousands of students worldwide and continues to share his passion for yoga and personal transformation.
