Kari Schein, E-RYT 500, Katonah Yoga® teacher
Kari Schein is a Katonah Yoga® teacher, sound artist, and longtime educator. She first came to yoga over thirty years ago as an athlete seeking relief from the wear and tear of sport and the full demands of work and family life. What began as physical support became a path of study; the language of breath, structure, and sound offered new ways to live in a healthy, adaptable body and steadier mind.
Kari spent more than three decades teaching in Montessori schools, eventually mentoring and training Montessori teachers—experience that now informs her work with yoga students and emerging yoga teachers. She has completed over 500 hours of YTT certifications and advanced studies in Katonah Yoga®, nidra, breathwork, and vibrational sound medicine, studying with mentor teachers from international lineages. She is also an ISTA-certified therapeutic sound practitioner.
Grounded in Katonah Yoga® theory, Kari works with the geometry of asana to cultivate structure, stability, and functional mobility, supporting a practice designed for longevity. With a steady, heart-centered presence, she integrates seasonal awareness and sound to invite imagination, nervous-system regulation, and authentic voice. Students often share that her morning flow classes feel new and fresh, offering a different lens on what practice can open—both mentally and physically. At Yandara, she feels honored to support students through meaningful transformation within a heart-centered community.
